On-line Portfolio

I recently met with a client to discuss doing a commissioned painting for her home. With  me I brought a sketch book and some images. Once there, I realized that what I really needed to share with her was on my web site. Many other times I have had the subject of what I do come up and  I don’t always have a hard copy portfolio with me.  I do, however, always have my phone.  With a swipe, scroll and a click I have the work I have posted here.  My on-line portfolio has become imperative to being an artist.

What’s pyrography?  I’ts my latest passion; Wood burning.  Basically, I take a very hot tool and burn marks on the wooden panel. I bought a new tool from Razertip and I’m in love with the art form all over again. The response has been great.  Several pieces have sold, including one in an art gallery in Nashville, Indiana.

I am now offering portraits of pets for sale in this unique style.  The puppy is an example of what that could look like.

Contact me.  I’d love to do a portrait of your pet.

The Show is Down

It was rather sad the day that the show came down.  I spent a full year working towards this. The good news is it is not quite over.  Two paintings are going on display at the Spring Hill Suites hotel near campus on Wednesday.  It is only for the evening, but I will take every opportunity to show this work that I can find.

I also want to give a big “thank you” to everyone who came to see the show while it was up.  The gallery said there was a steady steam on people looking for my work and they started to wonder where they were all coming from.  I told them that I have a lot of friends.

BFA Senior Thesis Show

Today the invitations came for my Thesis Show. I am more excited about this than actually graduating. So much time, effort and sweat has gone into this art. Two of the twelve paintings (one for each of my children) are featured on the card. If you want to see the rest you will have to come to the gallery… or wait a bit I will post the rest after the show comes down. People have asked; they are for sale.  They are well documented with photographs which are much easier for me to store. Besides, I can always paint something new, since these models work for cookies.

Mural Painting

Today I proudly proclaim myself a muralist, having just finished a summer mural painting class. Our first project was a mural for the Regency Athletic Fields at Metropolitan State University Denver (my school of course). It was a huge undertaking; one hundred and eighty four feet painted on 46 panels.

We haven’t heard the exact date for installation, but it will be exciting to see it all together.  No one has; it is too large to put all together at one time.  We worked on sections which we put away and then put up other sections to work on.  Here are some photos of the work in progress.

We all  worked on several sections and I was so lucky to be able to paint my favorite part; the ball.  I had done the photo shop work on it for the design so it felt really good to take it to completion.
